AYRADIA™ Oral Suspension is a flavored oily suspension containing metronidazole, an anti-infective indicated for the treatment of Giardia duodenalis infections in dogs. Metronidazole can also be used to treat diarrhea and other intestinal parasites.

Usage
Shake vigorously before use.
AYRADIA™ Oral Suspension should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian for the entire length of time prescribed. Giving this medication for the entire prescribed duration, even if your pet is feeling better, helps to ensure the infection is treated completely. See product insert for complete instructions for using the dispensing system and how to prepare a dose of the medication. Use the provided syringe to ensure accurate dosing.
Wash hands before and after handling medication.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.
Side Effects
Common potential side effects may include loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Gastrointestinal side effects may be lessened or prevented by giving this medication with a small amount of food. Neurological symptoms in dogs including (but not limited to) lethargy and weakness are less common, and typically associated with higher doses of this medication. Contact your veterinarian immediately if any neurological symptoms occur.
Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
The following drugs are the most common relevant potential interactions with metronidazole, but is not a comprehensive list: alcohol, cimetidine, cyclosporine, phenobarbital, sotalol, and warfarin.
Ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications and supplements you are giving to your pet prior to use of this medication. Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, and a drug interaction may be anticipated; in this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. 
Cautions
Use with caution in dogs with hepatic (liver) dysfunction or if your pet has a preexisting neurological condition. The safety of this medication has not been evaluated in pregnant, breeding, or nursing animals.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or seek emergency veterinary attention. Allergic symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, or airways; difficulty breathing, agitation, profuse salivation, vomiting, and widespread hives/itching.

Storage
Store below 86°F in an upright position. Once opened, use within 6 months. Keep this medication tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Medication should be stored in a cool, dry place away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in damp places, as exposure to heat or moisture may damage the medication.
