Felanorm (methimazole) Oral Solution for Cats is indicated for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats.
  • Felanorm is the first FDA-approved oral solution for feline hyperthyroidism.
  • Proven track record (over 100 million sold doses in the U.K.)1.
  • Syringe marked in 0.25 mg increments for accurate dose titration.
  • Easy-To-Give (International Society of Feline Medicine awarded)2.
  • Felanorm® Oral Solution should not be given to cats that are pregnant, nursing, or that have been diagnosed with kidney, liver, or blood disorders.

Felanorm is a prescription oral solution containing methimazole and is used for the treatment of hyperthyroidism in cats.
Hyperthyroidism occurs when the thyroid gland over-produces thyroid hormone and is a lifelong condition that requires treatment. Felanorm reduces the production of thyroid hormone. Common signs of hyperthyroidism include weight loss, and an increase in appetite, thirst, and urination. Other signs may include vomiting, diarrhea, hyperactivity, and unkempt coat.

Usage
*Please review the full prescribing information/manufacturer’s package insert for detailed administration instructions, including recommended Instructions for Use.

Felanorm Oral Solution should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the medication. Please consult your veterinarian before making any changes or discontinuing the prescribed dosing schedule. Your veterinarian will monitor your pet’s bloodwork while taking this medication.
Always wear protective gloves when administering Felanorm or to prevent direct contact with litter, feces, urine, or vomit of treated cats. All pet owners should wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling the medication or if contact is made with the litter or bodily fluids of a treated cat (even if gloves are worn).

This product should be administered orally using the enclosed graduated dosing syringe. The syringe has measurements representing the mg dose of the product.
To avoid contamination of the product bottle, the dosing syringe should be rinsed externally, cleaned, and dried between doses and between individual fillings (when multiple fillings of the dosing syringe are needed to provide a single dose).

Missed doses
Administer the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give more medication than prescribed or two doses at once.
If you have questions about your pet’s prescribed dosing schedule (e.g., timing, interval), please consult your veterinarian.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled room temperature (77°F, with excursions permitted between 59 and 86°F). Keep in a secure location out of the reach of children and pets. Felanorm should be stored in its original container and kept tightly closed when not in use.
Exposure to extreme temperatures or moisture may affect the integrity and effectiveness of medications. Always store medications properly (e.g., away from the bathroom, kitchen sink, or other damp places).

Side effects
The most commonly reported side effects of this medication are anorexia, vomiting, head/facial pruritus or edema, depression/lethargy, weight loss, anemia, elevated liver enzymes, skin lesions, elevated BUN, diarrhea, and thrombocytopenia.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has complete loss of appetite, any unusual bruising or signs of bleeding, severe weakness, facial itching/sores, or if you notice yellowing of the skin, gums, or whites of the eyes.

This is not a complete list of all possible side effects. Notify your veterinarian if your pet experiences any of the effects described above, or if you notice any other side effects that are persistent or troublesome.
If you notice anything unusual, please consult your veterinarian.
