Grow, grow, grow!

At this point your puppy may have slowed down growing. This can be a time of transition for both you and your puppy. You may need or want to try out new foods, new supplies and toys!

Broaden their Palette

As your puppy’s growth slows down it might be time to transition them to adult food. Adult food can help your dog meet their nutrition needs. It may also be a good time to introduce new treats into their diet.  There are so many treat types to try - freeze dried, frozen, natural chews and more! Each treat type has different nutritional, dental and mental benefits for your pup. Explore different treats and see which ones your puppy enjoys the most!

One of our favorite dog food and treat brands is Intuition, available exclusively at Chow Hound Pet Supplies. We always recommend consulting with your veterinarian before introducing a new food into your dog’s diet.

Bigger and Better Supplies

This is the time period  when many puppies grow much slower or even have stopped growing altogether. That also means it is time to upgrade your pup’s supplies. Since your dog may be eating more, you can keep things easier with a new food and water bowl. You can also upgrade their leash, collar and harness to make sure they’re comfortable as they come into their adult size. As your pup grows their crate should too. Consult with your dog trainer or veterinarian to figure out what crate size and type is best for your pup.

Time to Play!

It’s likely your puppy has destroyed or worn out many of their toys. Take a trip to your local Feeders Pet Supply and let your pup pick out some new toys! Puzzle toys are a great way to keep your puppy engaged and enrich their life! Some of our favorite puzzle toys include the Zippy Paws Pinata Burrow Puzzle Toy and the Outward Hound Brick Treat Puzzle Toy

Even though the time may be flying, make sure to slow down and enjoy time with your puppy!
