Benefits
  • An ointment indicated for the topical treatment of canine bacterial infections of the skin, including superficial pyoderma, caused by susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus and Staphylococcus intermedius
  • May also be used for other bacterial skin infections susceptible to mupirocin

Usage
Mupirocin ointment should be applied topically as directed by your veterinarian. Avoid getting into your pet's eyes. Wash hands after application. Do not let pet lick or chew at area of application for at least 20 to 30 minutes after applying. 
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
This medication is generally well tolerated and side effects are rare. Some pets may be sensitive to the neomycin component of this medication. If redness, irritation, or swelling persists, contact your veterinarian. If you notice anything unusual or if use of the medication is troublesome for your pet, contact your veterinarian.

There are no documented drug interactions with this medication. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. There are no drug interactions reported with this medication. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Cautions
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.

Storage
Store at 68°F to 77°F in controlled room temperature. Keep this medicine out of reach of children. Store in a childproof container. Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
