Usage
Comfortis®  should be given orally as directed by your veterinarian. This medication should be administered at monthly (every 30 day) intervals, year-round to guarantee protection from fleas.
Remove only 1 tablet at a time from the foil-backed blister card and return the card to the box to protect from light.  Allowing the tablet to remain out of the foil pack for 15 to 60 minutes prior to administration, may reduce the strong odor associated with the medication.  Do not remove tablet from foil wrapper until you are ready to give it to your pet. Offer to the pet as a treat by hand or in a small amount of food. Make sure your pet eats the tablet along with food to ensure optimal efficacy. Make sure entire tablet is consumed.
To ensure protection, observe your pet for one hour after administration. If vomiting occurs within an hour of administration, redose with another full dose.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as you remember, unless it is time for the next dose. Do not double dose.  If your dog has missed a dose please consult with your veterinarian as testing may be recommended sooner than usual.
Side Effects
Side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, and decreased activity. Serious adverse reactions have been reported following concomitant extra-label use of ivermectin with spinosad alone, a component of Comfortis®. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
Inform your veterinarian prior to use of this medication what other medication you are giving to your pet. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together. Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.

The safety of Comfortis® has not been established in breeding, pregnant, or lactating animals. Use with caution in dogs with pre-existing epilepsy.

If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic.
