Parasedge Multi® Topical Solution for Dogs

Parasedge Multi® Topical Solution is a broad-spectrum once a month topical application that prevents heartworm disease and treats heartworm microfilaria, kills fleas, treats and controls hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, and treats sarcoptic mange in dogs.

Parasedge Multi® Topical Solution is a colorless to yellow liquid.

Parasedge Multi® Topical Solution should be applied as directed by your veterinarian. This medication should be administered at every 30 day intervals, year-round to guarantee complete protection.  For dogs over 110 lbs, use the appropriate combination of tubes to ensure complete protection. 

Use scissors to open the foil pack, taking care not to damage the tube inside. Remove one dose applicator tube from the package and hold the tube in an upright position. Administer the entire contents of the tube that correctly corresponds with the body weight of the dog.

Bend the tip back until it snaps off. If it doesn't snap off at first, cut it using scissors. Always keep the tube in the upright position to prevent leaking.

The dog should be standing for application. Part the hair on the back of the dog between the shoulder blades until the skin is visible. For dogs weighing 20 lbs. or less, place the tip of the tube on the skin and apply the entire contents directly on the exposed skin at one spot between the shoulder blades. For dogs weighing more than 20 lbs, place the tip of the tube on the skin and apply the entire contents directly on the exposed skin at 3 or 4 spots on the top of the backline from the base of the neck to the upper back in an area inaccessible to licking. Do not apply an  amount of solution at any one location that could run off the side of the dog.

Keep tube compressed on the final squeeze to avoid drawing liquid back into tube. While keeping tube squeezed, drag it away from liquid and lift up to remove. Ensure tube is empty.

Do not contact or allow children to contact the application site until dry (2 hours after application).  Wash hands and contacted skin thoroughly with soap and water immediately after application.

Administer the dose as soon as you remember, unless it is time for the next dose. Do not double dose. If your dog has missed a dose, please consult with your veterinarian.

Parasedge Multi® Topical Solution is generally well tolerated in dogs when given at the usual dose.  Stiff hair, a damp appearance of the hair, or a powdery residue may be observed at the application site. There are very few side effects when the drug is given at the usual dose.  The following side effects have been reported with the use of Parasedge Multi® Topical Solution: depression/lethargy, pruritus, vomiting, diarrhea, anorexia, application site reactions (alopecia, pruritus, erythema, and lesions, including blisters), hyperactivity, ataxia, trembling, seizures, panting, hypersalivation, anaphylaxis/anaphylactic reactions (hives, facial swelling, edema of the head), and corneal ulceration. 

Ensure that the dog does not ingest the product. Ingestion of this product may cause serious adverse reactions including depression, salivation, dilated pupils, incoordination, panting, and generalized muscle tremors.

Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.

There are no documented drug interactions with this medication. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.

Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.

For topical use only. Avoid oral ingestion. Do not let this product get in your dog's mouth or eyes. Do not allow the dog to lick any of the application site for 30 minutes. In households with multiple pets, keep each treated dog separated from other treated dogs and other pets for 3 minutes after application to prevent licking. Contact with eyes can lead to eye irritation and corneal ulceration. If contact with eyes occurs, hold the dog's eyelids open, flush thoroughly with water, and contact your veterinarian.  Avoid contact with eyes, skin, and clothing.

Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.

Store below 77°F. Protect from freezing. Keep this medicine out of reach of children. Store in a childproof container. Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
