PrednisoLONE is a corticosteroid that is used for treatment of hypoadrenocorticism, as an anti-inflammatory, for immunosuppression, and as an antineoplastic. It can be used to decrease swelling/redness/itching associated with allergic reactions and inflammatory conditions, as well as supportive care during periods of stress.

Usage
PrednisoLONE Sodium Phosphate Oral Solution should be given to your pet as directed by your veterinarian.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give two doses at once.
Side Effects
Common side effects may include (but are not limited to): excessive thirst/hunger/urination, dull/dry coat or hair loss, weight gain, rapid breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, GI upset/ulceration, muscle wasting, and/or behavioral changes. Notify your veterinarian if side effects appear and remain troublesome.
Other side effects may occur, particularly with long-term administration. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
The following medications have been noted to have potential interactions with PrednisoLONE Sodium Phosphate Oral Solution (but may not be a comprehensive list): antidiabetic agents (eg, Bexacat, Senvelgo), Apoquel, aspirin, cyclosporine, fluconazole, fluoroquinolones, insulins, itraconazole, ketoconazole, mycophenolate, NSAIDs, phenobarbital, and potassium-depleting diuretics (eg, furosemide). Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Ensure your veterinarian is aware of all medications and/or supplements you are giving to your pet. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a potential drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.
Cautions
The solution form of this medication does not have an FDA-approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform Vetsource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies.
If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, discontinue therapy and call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include (but are not limited to): swollen lips/tongue/face/airways, difficulty breathing, agitation, profuse salivation, and widespread hives/itching.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place at a controlled temperature between 36 to 77°F. May be refrigerated. Keep the medication in a tightly closed, light-resistant glass or PET plastic container (manufacturer packaging) and out of the reach of children and pets. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medication in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.

Without first talking to your veterinarian, don't give your pet any over-the-counter or other prescription medications while giving Prednisolone. There are possible side effects, including insomnia, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, and fatigue.
