Usage
Sodium Chloride 5% Ophthalmic Ointment should be applied as directed by your veterinarian. Administer prescribed dose by pulling down on the bottom lid of your pet’s eye and placing a ribbon of ointment into the eye. Exercise proper caution not to touch the tube opening to any surface including eyes or hands as that may contaminate the sterile surface. Wash hands before and after application. If using with other eye drops, separate dosing by 5 minutes.
Missed Doses
Give the dose as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose, and continue with the regular schedule. Do not give 2 doses at once.
Side Effects
Possible side effects may include: tearing, redness, blurring of vision, and itching which may result in your pet rubbing their eyes.
Other side effects may occur, if you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.
Drug & Food Interactions
Inform your veterinarian prior to use of this medication what other medication you are giving to your pet, including but not limited to other eye drops and/or eye medications. Quite often your veterinarian may prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely. Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
Cautions
This medication does not have an FDA approved indication for use in animals, but it is a common and acceptable practice for veterinarians to prescribe this human medication for use in animals.
Allergic reactions to medications may occur. Be sure to inform VetSource and your veterinarian if your pet has any known drug sensitivities or allergies. If your pet displays symptoms of an allergic reaction, call your veterinarian immediately or go to a veterinary emergency clinic. Symptoms may include but are not limited to: swollen lips, tongue, face, airways; difficulty breathing; agitation; profuse salivation; vomiting; widespread hives and itching.

Store at 68°F to 77°F in controlled room temperature. Protect from freezing. Keep this medicine out of reach of children. Store in a childproof container. Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight. Do not store this medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in damp places. The medicine may break down if exposed to heat or moisture.
